Tajikistan is located in Central Asia and considered as one of the oldest states in the world. The population of the country is about 10.5 million people. Tajikistan is a multinational republic. More than 80 nationalities live in the country. Tajiks make up 85% of the total population, while other nationalities include Uzbeks, Russians, Kyrgyz, and a small percentage of other nationalities.

Since ancient times, the territory of Tajikistan has been located on the important historical routes of the Great Silk Road connecting East and West.

The republic's innermost wealth is its rivers and lakes, which have systemic-glacial feeding. They account for more than 60% of the hydro resources of the Central Asian region.

Tajikistan is an agrarian-industrial state, with a national GDP of more than 11 billion dollars (2022) and an economic growth rate of at least 7% annually. International financial institutions have also rated Tajikistan's economic growth in recent years as the highest in the region.

In 2022, the international rating agency "Standard & Poor's" affirmed the country's sovereign credit rating at "B-/B" with a "stable" outlook.

Tajikistan is rich in subsoil resources. Currently, more than 400 deposits have been explored and about 100 deposits are being exploited, where up to 40 types of minerals are extracted. Tajikistan ranks second in the world in gold reserves, first in silver reserves, exposed coal deposits of more than 5 billion tons.

The country has adopted the National Development Strategy of the Republic of Tajikistan for the period up to 2030 and for its achievement the following goals for the next 15 years have been defined:

1. Ensuring energy security and efficient use of electricity;
2. Breaking the communications deadlock and turning the country into a transit country;
3. Ensuring food security and access to quality nutrition;
4. Expansion of productive employment;
